TEK Shanghai fixes Apple computers up to 8 years old, and Windows computers up to 5 years old. Our service covers a wide range of manufacturers – we invite you to have a chat with us to find out about your model.

Do I need to back up before you repair?
Usually, our repairs do not require formatting and system reinstallation, but just in case, we recommend that you back up your data. TEK Shanghai is able to assist with data backup – just let us know.

Are the parts you use genuine?
Of course – we use completely genuine factory parts when repairing your computer. In some special cases where an original part is not available anymore, we will use premium third-party components – we guarantee you won’t be able to tell the difference.

How long do computer repairs take?
Computer fixing time can vary from a couple of days to two weeks. This depends on the repair type and availability of parts. In most cases, we turn around repairs in 5 full business days.

What Speakers and Headphones do we repair?
We repair most audio brands available on the market. However, some specific product designs are difficult to repair due to the nature of their construction making it difficult for TEK Shanghai to repair without breaking outer casing or other parts. Contact our team for more information on your specific case.

What about older speakers and amplifiers?
In most cases we can. In recent years, innovation in the home audio industry has been on auxiliary functions such as wireless connectivity, while internal mechanisms are similar to those found in older products.

Can you come to my home to repair?
Yes! Some speakers are very large and difficult to move, and our engineers are able to travel to your home in order to repair.

Is there a warranty on your repairs?
We offer 90 days warranty on our repairs.

Will I definitely be able to get all my files back?
Due to the complex nature of hard drive damage, it’s difficult for us to guarantee that all your files will be recovered, but statistically speaking,we have a success rate of over 90% with file recovery cases.

How about Flash Drives?
It is very difficult to recover data from a broken flash drive, as these issues are almost always related to the manufacturer’s proprietary systems, making third-party repairs very difficult to undertake.

Which hard drives won’t be accepted?
If your hard drive has liquid damage, or has been opened before or was previously repaired, TEK Shanghai is unable to undertake the repair.

How long does file recovery take?
Depending on the severity of the case, file recovery can take up to 5 business days.

What if TEK Shanghai is unable to recover the files?
No fee is due if we are unable to recover your files.

What should I do if my device falls in liquid?
Do not turn on your device! We recommend bringing it to a TEK Shanghai store as soon as possible, to give us the best chance to repair your device.

My device was water damaged and now everything seems to work fine except for one function, do I still need the full water damage service?
We recommend contacting TEK Shanghai and talking to one of our engineers, who will be able to answer your question based on your case.

How long will a repair take?
Water damage repairs usually take between 3 to 5 full business days to complete depending on the type of damage. In some cases of more severe damage, repairs may take longer.

Is there a warranty on your repairs?
We include a 90 day warranty on the parts that we have used to repair your device.

Which viruses can you help to remove?
The world of viruses and malware is always changing, and we recommend that the best way for you to make sure you’re safe is to have up to date antivirus software installed on your computer. But if some malware sneaks through the cracks, don’t worry! TEK Shanghai’s engineers will assess the case and strive to help you remove it.

Do I need to use Antivirus software on Mac?
Although you might think that Macs are completely safe from virus’, that’s actually not the case! Now more than ever, hackers are targeting Macs with malware and viruses, making antivirus software a necessity for Mac users.

Which antivirus software does TEK Shanghai recommend?
Our preferred provider is Malwarebytes.com. With affordable rates, frequent updates and a high rating of customer trust, their software is a safe choice for both Mac and PC users.

My computer’s been completely crashed! What can TEK Shanghai do?
Normally in this case, the hard drive is still readable. Our engineers should be able to copy your files out and then try to reinstall the whole system and software.

How do I get my broken device to you?
We currently have 2 locations in Shanghai – one in Pudong, and the other in Xuhui District (click here). You can either drop off your device in person, or we can arrange a courier for device pickup from any location in China – just let us know.

How do I pick up my repaired device?
Once again, you can choose to either come to one of TEK Shanghai’s locations, or we can arrange for your fixed device to be couriered to any location in Shanghai or China – depending on where you are. Just let us know.

Don’t live in Shanghai? Not a problem!

Wherever you live in China, we are able to organize a courier service to pick up your broken device and deliver your repaired one. The sky’s the limit! Guangzhou, Beijing, Chengdu, Shenzhen – regardless of where you are, our engineers are ready to talk to you about your repairs.
