About this event
As TEK-Shanghai, we have been providing Tech Service for the Expats community for 7 years, in between, we always help recycle e-waste, for less environmental pollutions, and now we have a chance to officially collaborate with Green Initiatives, on a warm Sunday morning, present a chance to collect, swap and donate any used electronic stuff, for a greener earth.
What to do with those old electronics?
- We all have ‘that’ drawer/bag full of old cables, chargers, phones, and electronics. They are just sitting there, untouched because we don’t know what to do with them, so we tell ourselves that we keep them “just in case”. It just seems wrong and not environmentally friendly to throw them away!
- TEK-Shanghai is partnering with Green Initiatives to help solve this problem. Green Initiates works with businesses to promote waste recycling, staff engagement programs as well as sustainable solutions and services.
- On Sunday, March 14th from 10 AM – 1 PM, You can safely and properly dispose of e-waste, exchange games, and movies, and meet some interesting people. Bring your old cables, outdated computers, last model phones, and other unused electronics, and help make a cleaner world … and a de-cluttered house…
What can be recycled
- Any electronics that are broken, out of date, or just not in use, such as chargers and cables, phones, DVDs, computers, blenders, shavers…
*Please note that this event only organizes the collection of all electronic waste. Contact Green Initiatives if you have other kinds of waste recycling questions. - All e-waste can be simply dropped into the recycle bin at the event. We will make sure all items are safely, properly, and environmentally recycled
- As a “thank you” for helping address the electronic waste problem, each attendee with a donation can receive one free beer/soft drink.
Reuse: Swap items with others
That perfectly good DVD that you watched but probably won’t watch again… That PS, XBOX, Nintendo Switch game that you have already beat… these items can all be reused by swapping them with friends. We will set up a special exchange corner for these re-usable items.
As they say, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure!
Donate to charity
The final initiative of our event relates to our social partner Shanghai Sunrise. Shanghai Sunrise is a non-profit organization raising funds for educational scholarships for underprivileged youths in Shanghai.
If you have an old but still working laptop, desktop computer or monitor/screen, we are collecting these for the Shanghai Sunrise students who need computers for their education but can’t afford them. What is currently just sitting in a laptop bag or drawer could instead help someone else’s future.
Of course, TEK-Shanghai will guarantee that all data is completely wiped clean before we donate it.
Repairs: Battery and screen exchange on site
We can offer this service for all the current popular phone models but note that older model phones or computers may require off-site repair.
Finger food and drinks
Finger food is provided by Shanghai Lander and Times Grocery.
Beers are sponsored by Mr. Willis restaurant.
The reward for your kind action
TEK-Shanghai has provided goodie bags contains vouchers for over 10 venues you can check out in Shanghai.
